Our 5-string line is nearing realization, and we're looking at making our own tailpieces. Part of the decision involves getting some idea of the potential demand, and an idea of what features might be wanted,as well as the price people might be willing to pay.

We're thinking about making a normal wooden tailpiece, plus one with built-in adjusters. Wood Choices would be ebony, boxwood, and rosewood. There would be a size suitable for a violin, as well as a 15½" viola.

Anybody interested in such a product? If so, what features would you find most important or desirable?

How about a Baroque style model? I've never seen one available, only for 4 string. Maybe add carvings or inlay as an option.

I'd be very interested in a 5-string tailpiece sized for a 15" viola with fine-tuners for the A and E strings... Something akin to the Pusch tailpieces, with inconspicuous fine-tuners.

I see a lot of french style 5 string tailpieces available.
    - I think the tailpieces would have to be a bit different from what is allready available.

maybe a hill/pseudo style would be nice.

I currently buy the ones I use from 2-3 sources. I am sure they are imported so I would think it would be hard to make them at a competitive price.
