I made this 5 string violin for David Sartain. These are mechanical tuning pegs that allow for fine tuners to be done away with.

How does it sound? Red spruce is that the same as Adirondack?

Yes, Red Spruce is the same wood as Adirondack Spruce.
this violin sounds wonderful!! It has a lot of projection into the room.
The owner comes to this forum from time to time...hopefully after he has played it a bit he will give his impressions??

I have only had this Dudley 5-string a couple of days, but I am already in love with it. The projection and depth of the C is great as well as the punch and resonance of the E, with a good even tone throughout. The wood is beautiful and the varnish that Barry used is very old world. I had a friend ask me how Barry made it look so old when it was so new! I have played 6 of Barry's 5-strings and the quality is top notch and consistant, but my favorite one is mine!!!
